Why teach this
The case for teaching self-protection, consent and stepping in at school, from the evidence.
Still to write
For educators, short enough to forward to a principal. Each point numbered to a source:
- What school-based programmes do: better knowledge and protective skills, more children telling an adult, no added anxiety (B3), and the honest limit: not shown on their own to reduce abuse.
- Bystander and healthy-relationship programmes in high school and middle school (B5, B6, T2).
- Why earlier is better: most female survivors were first harmed before 25, almost half before 18 (T15).
- What's already required or recommended: Erin's Law in 38 states (B1, B2); the National Sex Education Standards (B7); the Clery Act for colleges (B12).
- Why every student learns all three roles.
